The second Humpback Whale World Congress (HWWC) took place from July 3rd to July 7th, 2017, in Réunion. Building on the success of the first congress, this edition deepened the global commitment to the research and conservation of humpback whales. The event continued to emphasize the connection between whale conservation and sustainable economic growth in the Indian Ocean region.
A Growing International Presence
The 2017 HWWC welcomed 100 participants from 26 different countries, including 43 students and representatives from 11 scientific laboratories. This diverse and active participation highlighted the significant interest and dedication to this congress, fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas and research.
